in queenstown

Queenstown is filled with activities, from food and wine experiences and scenic tours, to bungy jumps and jet boat rides! We can’t list everything as we’d be here forever, but here are a few things you may enjoy…

Food & Wine

Amisfield Winery

If you are looking for some top quality NZ food and wine this is the place to go! You can visit the cellar door for a wine tasting and/or sit down for a meal at the bistro.
Bookings recommended for dining.

Other wineries

You can’t come to Central Otago and not have a glass or two of pinot noir! Here are some other great wineries to visit for a tasting, tour or meal…

Gibston Valley • Peregrine Estate • Chard Farm

There are also several wine tours available.

Fergburger

Fergburger is a Queenstown institution, offering up a wide range of mouth-watering burgers.

Activities

Visit Arrowtown

“This town is too perfect, it must be staged!” – Nathan
Arrowtown is a charming, gold rush town just out of Queenstown. Highly recommended for a look around. If you get hungry, the Chop Shop is a quirky and delish food stop.

Shotover Jet

This high speed jet takes you through the Shotover Canyons. It’s a perfect combination of scenic and thrill!

Milford sound

Milford sound sits within the Fiordland National park and is filled with dramatic beauty. Its tall mountain peaks shoot straight down into ink-dark waters. It is 3-4 hour scenic drive from Queenstown. There are tours to Milford Sound departing from Queenstown, or you can head there yourself and get on a boat cruise to truly experience its magnificence.

walking, hiking and biking

There are a myriad of scenic trails around Queenstown if you’d like to get out for a bit of exercise. You can walk or hike these trails, or hire a mountain bike for a bit of adventure! At the very least, we highly recommend a stroll around the edge of the lake, it is positively picturesque from every angle!

Skyline

Head up the Skyline Gondola to get a view looking down over Queenstown and Lake Wakatipu. You can also enjoy luging or mountain biking from the top.

Onsen Hot Pools

Relax in the beautiful Onsen Hot Pools, overlooking the mountains and Shotover River. Soak in the steam and scenery in this unique kiwi twist on a Japanese tradition. You’ll also receive a complimentary drink and snack to enjoy in the pool. Bookings recommended.

What if I want to leave before the provided transport departs?

Parking is available at the venue, or you may order a taxi/Uber to take you back to your accomodation.

How do I get around queenstown?

Public Transport
There is limited public transport around Queenstown. You will be able to catch a bus/shuttle from the airport into town, then get around on foot or with taxis.

Hire a Car
If you are coming from out of town, we recommend hiring a car. This will allow you to really explore the region and not be confined to Queenstown itself.

Where should I stay

We have provided some accomodation options (click here to view), however you are welcome to book accomodation anywhere in or around Queenstown.
If you are staying longer than a few days, we would recommend also visiting other parts of the region for some of your stay.

COVID-19

travel restrictions & change of date

Borders are open and travel is a go. Time for a wedding! If however COVID-19 rears its ugly head again, causing border closures and/or mass gathering restrictions we will be in touch with an updated plan.

We recommend checking that any bookings you make will be transferable or refundable.

Kids

Can I bring my children to the warm up & cool down?

For the gatherings before and after the wedding we absolutely welcome you to bring your children. The more the merrier!

Please let us know in your RSVP if your children will be accompanying you to the pre and/or post events so that we have an idea on numbers.

Babysitters

For the wedding day itself, you can find a reputable local babysitter via the link below, or ask your accomodation, they should have recommendations.

If you feel uncomfortable with a babysitter, please reach out to us so we can accomodate your family.
